First, we tried the Highlands Coffee set back a bit from the roundabout in front of the Ben Thanh Market... but there was no view due to the mass of wires hanging across the windows! Haha.
We walked over to the bus station in front of the roundabout and market... and took some photos there. It was 'ok'. THEN... I looked up and saw one of the AIA buildings. I was shown an apartment in an AIA building when I first moved here and remembered taking photos of the city from the stairwell... see that past post here... it's the pink building.
The AIA building I saw near Ben Thanh was a different AIA building... but I figured we could try getting up top for a view!
Hilariously enough, it worked. We parked in the garage of the building and went to the elevator to visit our 'friend'... and went straight up to the 21st (highest) floor. Up top, we found ourselves with an open rooftop AND rooftop pool. Oh, and a spectacular view. : )
The Bitexco Tower with the helipad to the right of the letters...
Ben Thanh Market on the left/middle... rectangular VinCom lit up behind that...
Ben Thanh Market and the roundabout with the Tran Nguyen Han statue...
Lenny taking photos...
The main road seen below leads to the backpacker area...
