From Hanoi we were picked up by a small bus and the Galaxy Cruise tour guides to take the 4-hour drive to Ha Long Bay. We had booked a two-day, one-night cruise on the bay!
Ha Long Bay -- "Descending Dragon Bay"
Ha Long Bay was recently named one of the new 7 Wonders of the World, because of this, I'm hoping they start taking better care of the area. Tourism has boomed in past years and there are junk boats all over the main part of the bay (like our small cruise boat)... and lots of diesel pollution, etc.
We enjoyed our trip... but there were lots of cruise ships around the entire time. I heard that if we did a longer cruise (2 or 3 nights) we would have gone out further and gotten away from the masses.

It was rather cold and foggy while we were there -- due to the time of year, but it only added to the area's beauty.
