Bugis Street, Singapore

Well, the Wikipedia article on Bugis Street (which can be found by clicking here) says that Bugis Street is not a well-known tourist destination, but it sure was busy with tourists while I was there!

Bugis Street used to be an area where trans women would gather... throughout the 1950's to 1980's the area would be like a parade of transvestites in crazy outfits at night. A lot sex trade went on in the area. ...With the construction of the MRT (subway system), however, the culture of Bugis Street changed... and now it is a cobble-stoned street of shops.

I walked through Bugis Street both during the evening and during the daytime, and both times it was crowded with people meandering through the area. It's a wide street that is covered with awnings and stall after stall of narrow street shops.

Entrance to one end of Bugis Street...
