10k hike in Nam Cat Tien National Park

The first morning in Cat Tien National Park included an extremely bumpy truck ride to the beginning of a 10k hike... (we saw a wild gibbon on the way!)

We were told that this was mint. I'm skeptical about that... but that's the translation that we were given...

Although flat, the trail was full of loose rocks and large branches hanging across the trail. The hike was great... for the 5k to the lake. The 5k returning was incredibly hot. The cicadas were on full volume and it was nice to get out into the forest.

Along the path, we passed this ancient dipterocarpus tree with enormous exposed roots...
