The River's Tide

The streets are still flooding quite often here. ...We are (hopefully) at the tail-end of the rainy season... but the flooding is more from the rise of the river than the rain.

The drastic change in the level of the rain within a day is incredible.

The photos below are over the course of two days... the first two are from an afternoon, the next two are the next morning... then later that afternoon... so on. -- It's crazy!

(flooding out the sides of some points of the river)

Even last weekend when I left my place to go to the Teachers' Appreciation dinner, the river was quite low. ...Less than four hours later, however, as I headed back into my neighborhood, the river was at the top of the walls and about to overflow. The amount of change in level over a short period of time is unbelievable!
