Sunday Ashtanga Yoga

I'm pretty proud of myself for making it to afternoon yoga today.  :)

I'm not proud that this is my first yoga session so far in Vietnam!

...But I'll move past that, live in the now, and make yoga part of my regular weekly routine from now on.

Today's class was Ashtanga Yoga and I really enjoyed it. The instructor is an Indian guy - Dr. Shiva - and he was a good mix of pushing us beyond our comfort zones, being supportive, and calm yet humorous. I'll definitely make this class again.

His counting made me smile: "Ten, nine, yee-eye, seven, six, fi, four, tree, two, and one." AND he would make comments between numbers but then just continue counting where he had left off... so 10 seconds was usually 20 or 30 (while I'm shaking, concentrating on my breathing, and trying to hold a pose... all the while, thinking - Count! Don't talk! haha).

As I was dripping sweat on my mat, I realized that yoga in Vietnam will always be hot yoga, even when not intended to be.  :P

I also plan to try a morning run sometime soon at the park near my neighborhood (which I have yet to check out). My knees were bothering me a few weeks ago so I've been taking it easy since. BUT I need to make sure I'm ready for my upcoming 10K run in Angkor Wat!!! Yes, that's right - my 1st competitive run will be in Siem Reap, Cambodia - can't.wait.  :D  (That's coming up in the beginning of December.)

Oh - and our school participated in the Terry Fox run at the end of this month. Sarah and I plan to make our own tutus to wear... :D
