fish on bikes -- same, same!

The two photos above are a good representation of how many things feel when living abroad. The one way to describe the feeling is the phrase: "Same-same-but-different."

The first week back at school this past August (I don't know why this hasn't been posted about yet!), my friend Donna -- the art teacher, was going to donate the paper mache fish that the student made the year before. Before giving them away, however, we decided to make our own 'fish on bikes'... like the ones always sold at the beginning of Nguyen Huu Canh Street (the street our school is on).

First... fishies rolling into traffic on the street...

Elizabeth keeping out of the strong Saigon sun...

Our finished display of 'fish on bikes'!

Donna and I... we're ready to sell  : )

The REAL fish on bike sellers on Nguyen Huu Canh...

Making this silly activity sillier... was having the owner of our school at our campus this morning. Donna, Elizabeth, and I walked out the front doors of the school carrying loads of paper mache fish... got our motorbikes... and then the owner offered for us to be able to use his car. HA... he figured we were going to attempt to drive with all of these fish on our motorbikes. If he didn't think we were nuts before... well...   : P
